Alice S. (von Dembowski) Battersby of Millard Road and formerly of Pawtucket died Sunday 10 days shy of her 100 th Birthday at the Madonna Manor, North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Clarence Battersby. Born in Pawtucket, she was a resident of the city for over 86 years living most of that time on Appleton Avenue. She was the daughter of the late Maryan L.K. and Stacia (Pietz) von Dembowski. She was a Bookkeeper for the former Pawtucket Redi Mix Co. for many years and later worked in the Treasurers' Office for the City of Pawtucket for 15 years. Alice was a long-standing member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Seekonk. She is survived by one sister Barbara G. Hawe of Sandy Utah, a sister-in-law Audrey Dillon and her husband Jack of Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Norbert J. and Joseph von Dembowski, Cora W. Miller, Jenny Gingras, Irene Bowden and Dorothy Fleming. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Saturday at 10:00am in the CHEETHAM MORTUARY 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket followed by a Funeral Service at 11.00am. Burial will be in Newell Burying Ground Attleboro, MA.
