Alice S. (von Dembowski) Battersby

Alice was my sister-in-law but also like a second mother to me.
We had many memories down Cape Cod with Clarry and they both loved the water.
She will be greatly missed.
Audrey Dillon (Fort Worth, Texas)

Auntie Alice, We'll miss your long talks, smiling face and loving heart.
No one could wish for a greater Auntie then you - you were the best.

Hi Auntie, sorry I couldn't speak yesterday. For years I thought that you and Uncle Clarry were my Grandparants. You took on the role of a mother to my mother after my grandmother died. I have pictures and memories of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter spent together. I remember you and my mother making special holiday dinners in the kitchen while I played on the floor. I still have all the recipes that you and my grandmother development together. I have some recipes that to this day I can't make as well as you - those jam cookies are never as good as yours. I remember you and Uncle Clarry teaching me to swim in the cold waters off the Chatham light when I stayed with you and Cora and Russell. I remember the big box of penny candy that you and Uncle Clarry always gave me after your trips to the Cape each summer. I remember helping up pack up your things when you moved in with Dottie and labeling the boxes to put in Dottie's attic for Carol and Barbara. I remember how much you and Uncle Clarry loved each other. I know that as you two are talking away he is most likely using his special signal to you that you can stop talking now. I'm so glad that you will be together now, I'm sure he missed you and is so happy to see you. I'll miss you and our long talks but I know that you are happy and that's all that matters.
love you
Linda

Rest in Peace Aunt Alice and thank you Aunt Barbara for always being there for your brothers and sisters
